** The first three paragraphs contain some humor. This letter** however is in no way a joke. Please read all,as this is important.

Hello there cyborg human, this is Mr. Mojo. For those of you who don't know me, I'm the hippy band member of EL-DESTRUCTO. I'm really an alien sent here from another planet. I've been sent here to help you people save this place you call earth. I suffer extreme stage fright and only play live shows when my evil twin brother "Satan Brain" is sick, and needs me to fill in.

Anyone who has a double digit I.Q. knows at least a little about Y2K. With this coming event there seems to be an extreme sense of urgency. My brother has asked me to relay the following message. I agreed to do so, also interjecting some of my own (hippie rantings)concerns.

First he asked me to clarify the rumor of him worshipping the devil! He admits to not being much of a god person as far as the bible goes. However he does not worship the devil! He has partied with him a few times though. He states that "even I, must admit that god can be one cool badass motherfucker!" He was dubbed "Satan Brain" by friends close to him, who observed the fact he always thinks evil stuff. Hence the name.

Anyway back to business. My brother asked that you consider the following as we approach the millennium.

Cyborgs: I addressed you as such because you are. Think I'm crazy? Then step away from the computer now. Abandon your car,Your tv,the phone, the refrigerator, electrical lighting, and basically everything you have. Point being we have made our lives one with the machine, to the point that most of us cannot survive without them. Damn scarey right? All mechanical things break sooner or later, right? Enter Y2K... If you've given any serious thought to this,( and I hope you have) then you now realize the situation we've put ourselves in. Those of us who've spent time stockpiling food and planning for worst case scenario y2k, may feel rather foolish if 2000 comes with no problems. On the other hand those of you who have scoffed the whole matter as a joke, will be feeling more than just a little foolish come 2000 and the bug hits. No matter which side of the fence you're on with this, you must admit that it's time for some changes. Once in awhile we need to slow down a little, and spend some serious thought on our actions. Also thinking about the effects of those actions. Consider the following.

GOVERNMENT: If you're paying attention, then you realize the government. One can liken it to a well fed bird. We all know fat birds can't fly. Our American dream. They own it,and plan on never giving it back. Think I'm joking? Stop paying your property tax. Wether you have a shitty ass row home in the ghetto, or a 1,000 acre estate. Stop paying that tax and what's your's, suddenly becomes their's! You only lease the American dream.

Continuing the tax topic. You work hard for that dream. Every week you receive (The reward for working) your pay check. Only to find that Sam has helped himself (sometimes a third or more) to a healthy chunk. Okay you say, "someone has to pay for all those (there is a separate tax on gasoline)roads, army tanks, office buildings, police, prisons, schools, etc." Alright so you go to buy one of the smaller pieces of the dream. Say a new mountain bike. It cost 1,000 dollars. Suddenly you are informed your good uncle wants a percentage from the sale. This averages like 6% in most places. Making your new bike $1,060. You shake your head. Didn't you pay Sam off already? Was Capone this Brutal? We move on to bigger things and buy our slice of the American dream. The place we call home. We must pay a tax when we purchase the property. Then we must pay property tax while we own the place. We put some hard work into the place, fixing it up, then decide to move on. We sell the place for a little more than we paid. Upon selling,we must report the extra money as income. Paying tax once again. I believe from here you can figure out the rest of your financial transactions. Try not to get too pissed off.

Now you want to know who's in charge of this. Basically the large capitalist corporations own our government, as well as all governments of the world. But how? Well other than taxes that come from workers, and maybe some weapons (that tax payers bought)dealings to other countries, our government earns no income. Enter large corporations. The corporations can supply large amounts of cash to any government agency they wish to support. Of course the corporations wish to support the people supporting the corporations. You have the perfect marriage. Keep the workers generating money for the machine, the machine feeds the government, and the government oils the machine. This is real life, not a book or movie we're talking about. Perhaps we can start a community fund the corporations contribute to. Then the community votes on who receives what?

NEW TOPIC: Laws are unnatural to say the least. We are the only species on the planet living under laws. More "primitive" species live under customs, or mores(pronounced mo'rez). Some how animals manage to peacefully coexist for the most part. Having a general sense of respect and understanding between themselves, as well as other species. Did I also mention mother earth? We have no respect for animals or our own species it seems. Fuck mother earth! Hoar ass bitch can be bought and sold by the almighty dollar, right? Going one step further. Lets take note on a particularly hot topic these days.

GUNS: tool we invented originally for purposes of hunting and protection. Inanimate object not much different from an axe, knife, brick, etc. Public enemy #1 these days. Much effort under way to outLAW and remove this tool from existence on the planet. Wether you are PRO-GUN or ANTIGUN you must face reality. Removing every gun from this planet will do little to change the fact humans want to murder each other. Basically every home owned a gun 100 years ago. I've yet to hear of any kids back then stealing firearms, going to school and massacring their fellow classmates. The future looks bright right? We are walking in the right direction? Perhaps we best begin to search out the reasons why. Then if we are any kind of smart we'll find the answer.

PRISONS: Prisons are obviously a big failure. Lock a man in a cage with other unstable people. Let your murderer, your rapist/child molester, ect. (yes VIOLENT people need to be locked up) live with your car thief, add a large number of drug and other non violent offenders. Treat all of them as if they are rabid dogs in a cage. Now upon releasing them wonder the reasons why most will commit crimes again. We look back on people burning each other at the stake as rather stupid. Someday we'll look back at prisons in much the same manner. Hum......... let's try to keep each of these topics short and to the point. Lest you lose interest and skip reading the rest.

OUR PLANET: 100 years ago there were an estimated 1.5 billion people on this planet. Today... well over 6 billion and growing. It's estimated our population will increase by 50%, up to about 9 or 10 billion people in the next fifty years.(it's estimated this planet can sustain about 13 billion people max) With out debating Darwin or Marx, the fact that perhaps not all 6 billion deserve to be in the gene pool. Let's look at what we're doing to this place. In 1997 about 276 million Americans created 430 billion lbs. of garbage! An average of 1,600 lbs. per man, women and child. American industries in the same year produced another 2.5 billion lbs of really nasty toxic stuff-into the air, water and ground! Imagine if all 6 billion people had the financial means to consume as Americans do. What kind of effect do you think this has had on our planet? The air we breathe, the water we drink, Our chemically treated lawn we walk on? Suppose we continue growing and creating trash at this rate? Cancer? Deterioration of the food chain? Suppose even a few of the other animal(are we animals also?) species step up to our "higher level", learning to Modernize their environments? Picture a bear burning all the leaves as they fall to the ground, and dumping trash on the rabbits turf!

Global warming? Facts do seem to indicate an increase of 1 degree fahrenheit in the last century. It's estimated our temperature will increase about 4 degrees fahrenheit during the next 100 years. The 90's were the hottest decade in recent times. Facts definitely indicate an increase of carbon dioxide in the air. Up from 315 parts per million in 1958( when modern measurements began) to 360 p.p.m. today. It's estimated from trapped air bubbles in Greenlands ice sheet that there were 270 p.p.m. during preindustrial times. A major contributor of carbon dioxide gasses is the automobile. One could liken our roads to black cancerous veins (visualize this please)on this planet. My brother laughs hysterically everytime he sees some hippie with a "LOVE MOTHER EARTH" sticker plastered on some shitty car belching blue smoke. Do we really need the 8 cylinder s.u.v or the 200 plus horse power car for our daily commutes? Americans lead the world in greenhouse gas production. This is mainly due to our ever growing addiction to the automobile. Encouraged by the automotive industries advertising propaganda, we believe we'll impress the neighbor next door, we'll attract better looking mates, we'll look just as good as the model if we buy a new car. We do produce 40% of U.S. emissions with the automobile. The world as a whole, produces about (multiply this for a 5 or 10 year period!) 50 million cars per year. Perhaps we could put more time and energy into our physical selves. Feel over weight, lazy? Who cares as long as you can press your foot down on the gas pedal? Feel the power surge? Wanna feel power? Stop your car and run up a flight of steps! I'm willing to bet that most of you are not in as nice of shape as your cars! There are many more fact's and theories here, but let us move on.

DRUGS: Let's begin with modern medicine. Since it's winter where I'm at,let's discuss cold medicine. I can't stand this stuff. I haven't used it in about 10 years. It's a fact cold medications do not cure your cold. They merely suppress the symptoms. Meaning you stop coughing and sneezing. Problem being you cough and sneeze because your body's trying to rid itself of the bad stuff. Take the medication and you've only caused more problems for your body. I found drinking lots of water and sleeping alot works wonders. I'm not saying all medicines are bad, but there are many more examples like this.

Let's move on to illegal drugs.(I'm in the UNITED STATES) I love watching someone casually drinking beer or wine discuss how they do not do drugs! They usually look with disbelief when I state that alcohol is medically classified as a narcotic. On top of that if you are physically addicted to alcohol, you can actually die if you (just stop drinking) detox. You can also easily overdose on this stuff and die. We won't even mention a blackout session, drunk driving, or any of the bad stuff (yes I'm guilty of this) we can do when drunk.

Compare marijuana- not physically addictive. No documented case of a marijuana overdose causing death,(although it's possible)ever. Seems you fall asleep before you can smoke that much.(do be careful eating it) People are not very prone to starting a bar room brawl while high on weed. So why, can you tell me is one illegal, and the other not? Could it be those big bucks from the corporations again? Think the beer companies want marijuana legalized? ( there are far more reasons than this) Moving along.

Personally I'm not very in favor of heavier drugs like cocaine, but lets legalize them all! For one, no problem has ever gotten better when hidden in the closet. The only way to deal with problems are to get them into the open. Two, imagine how cheap crack could be? It could be dispensed like aspirin. It would be so cheap people would stop killing others to get it. You say this would lead to more people doing it. Maybe, but I doubt it. I choose not to do the stuff because I know it's bad news. Not because it's illegal. Any smart person can decide on their own if well informed. Kids will be able to get the stuff even easier? Doubtful on that also. If I'm 10 and I want to go buy beer, I have to at least find someone 21 to go buy the stuff for me. If I'm 10 and I want to buy crack, I take my money to the street corner and buy what ever I like! No Questions asked! Enough said here.

Food: Most of us go to the supermarket and buy plastic wrapped meat, never giving thought to the fact we're purchasing a piece of a previously living creature. Let's not even consider the fact Americans consume far more meat than needed. The fact these excessive amounts lead to numerous degenerative illnesses such as heart disease. Let's not even talk about the destruction mass producing livestock causes to our environment. Our production of livestock produces 130 times more waste than people themselves. One hog farm in Utah is known to produce more sewage than the city of Los Angeles! Instead, lets mention how few people these days eat veal due to the conditions under which it's produced. Baby cows are placed in small dark boxes, then forced to stand(usually with the use of spikes or something lining the bottom of the box to discourage lying down. The meat becomes tough on the side the animal lays) their entire lives in order to keep their muscles soft. Few of us realize that most meats purchased today are produced under conditions just as bad as veal. Take a tour of any industrial turkey, pig, cow, chicken or egg farm. The conditions the animals live under are remindful of holocaust pictures. Lets not mention the fact these animals are pumped full of steroids and antibiotics to help them grow a little bigger, faster. Let's not think about the fact that these animals are fed grains that have been grown using chemical pesticides. Basically we produce these animals using lots of chemicals! Yum! Can you say "cancer"? How about "birth defect"?

Did I mention our fruits and vegetables are produced using chemical pesticides? Yes these chemicals are retained in trace (residual)amounts on the fruit or vegetable. Now common sense would tell one that if these chemicals can kill bugs, then they probably aren't much better for us. Organic foods are available. I suggest searching them out. After all,you are what you eat!

Chemicals: Blame the chemical companies for pushing the stuff on us, but chemicals have become a major part of our lives. Just about everything we produce contains chemical products. From the dyes in our clothing, the products we use to clean our homes with, right down to the food we eat. We've put them everywhere. Did we mention cancer? Lets talk about the residual effects of chemicals. We already know about the food situation. How about when you clean your floor or counter top with that strong chemical stuff that works so well. The cleaning agent dries, but the chemical elements are still there as residual matter. (To understand this, picture mixing sugar into water. Once the water dries, the sugar is left behind.) These dried chemical agents are then left on your floor/counter top as dusty powder. You cannot actually see this usually, but they are there. Now move something in the area to disturb and cause the dust to go airborne. How much of this stuff have you already unknowingly breathed in?

VIOLENCE: There are lots of reasons for violence. Environment is usually a big one.Could the fact we have made our lives so complex have anything to do with people going postal? Could the stress of the rent/mortgage, phone bill, cable, electric, insurance, taxes, laws, car repair bill, earning more, the future looking grimmer and grimmer, etc, etc. be blamed at all? Less civilized times saw us worry about food, shelter, and reproduction. Three things!

Okay, if you've read this far you're probably someone who gives a shit. Everybody else hit the delete button quite sometime ago I'm sure. I could go on like this for quite sometime. By now you get the idea. So what do we do? I do not have the answers. I'm just as guilty as you for the problems. I do know we must slow down every so often. There's only one finish line to this life. We need to think a little deeper on the reasons why things are so screwed up. With in the reasons are the answers to all our questions. I have faith that if we look for answers, we'll find them. Stores are beginning to sell organic products. Companies are realising consumers are anxious to buy eco friendly products. I think it's only a matter of time before these products become the latest, greatest craze. Consumers have power in deciding what they buy. Companies only want to sell what the consumer will buy! Now that we realize our problems we can continue on our destructive course. Making this the beginning of the end. Or we can learn from our past mistakes and move on to act two. Making this the end of the beginning.
